The habitat

The Habitat reflects the environmental impact of man upon nature and allowed me to express a motif that frequents many of my installations. I find great spirituality and therapy in nature and am passionate about the footprint man leaves behind them. The Habitat was created using repurposed telephone books, recycled plastic bubble wrap, and foam products with a nod to the mixed media dimensional collage and assemblage of Robert Rauschenberg. The materiality of this structure afforded great variation in texture and surface - allowing beautiful contrasts of shadow and tone. The unfortunate paradox exists when we realize that the polystyrene materials used in this installation, will far outlast that objects they represent
